Examining Intergenerational Trauma Exposure

Traumatic and Adverse Childhood Experiences have been connected to Adult Psychopathology, Addiction, and Physiological problems.  Participants will be able to define Intergenerational Trauma and develop an awareness to appropriately offer Psychoeducation for clients.  In addition, the importance of trauma awareness in conceptualizing a client and in differential diagnosis will be addressed.  The connection between trauma experienced across generations and mental health diagnoses will also be explored.  Special focus will be in the areas of Sexual Abuse and Domestic Violence. The training will also identify specific treatment modalities to address trauma symptoms. Lecture, Group Discussion and Case Vignettes will be utilized during the learning experience.

Client Conceptualization: The foundation to effective CBT

Participants will actively engage in learning how to effectively Conceptualize the Clients they are serving.  Cognitive Behavioral therapy is ineffective if the appropriate treatment interventions are not utilized in a Client specific way.  Participants will learn how to identify a client’s Core Beliefs, Intermediate Beliefs and pattern of thoughts and behaviors to complete a thorough Case Formulation.  In addition, the participants will utilize actual Case Vignettes and Presentations to learn how to appropriately complete a Client Conceptualization Chart.  Participants will leave with an in depth knowledge of how to utilize Client Conceptualization and Case Formulation for effective CBT treatment planning.  Group discussion, Lecture, and Case Presentations will be utilized to enhance the learning experience.
